CAG ONE profiling shifts the focus of blade geometry from a generic, continuous round curve to a tailored performance platform customized by millimeter zones. While traditional blades force you to balance on a single high point underfoot, this system reimagines the blade’s mechanics. Its defining feature is the introduction of a precisely cut, flat glide area seamlessly integrated into the center of the runner, blended smoothly into rounded radii at the toe and heel.
This glide zone is specified by two precise millimeter measurements that dictate its shape and exact placement on the runner. When reviewing a CAG ONE profile designation (such as a 25-45 setup), the second number specifies the total length of the flat spot in millimeters. The first number indicates exactly how much of that total length is positioned forward of the blade’s geometric centerline in millimeters. This dual-measurement approach allows for a hyper-customized balance point, typically utilizing a total flat spot ranging from 20mm to over 65mm depending on the skater's needs.
The introduction of this specific geometric flat zone fundamentally changes how the blade interacts with the ice, primarily by distributing the skater’s body weight across a significantly larger surface area of steel. By preventing the blade from sinking too deeply into the ice surface, friction is reduced dramatically. This setup provides effortless velocity, allowing the blade to float efficiently for higher top-end speed, while also offering dynamic stability; it acts as a solid "home base" that eliminates constant fore-and-aft rocking, which noticeably cuts down on lower-body fatigue through three periods.
